For the Chadi Ke Lagal Hathkadi ("Handcuffs on the stick") campaign, in 2009, children in Uttar Pradesh drew comics about corporal punishment, to tell teachers and parents their views. The comics were distributed locally and made into a book. The campaign began with members of Babu Beheni Manch (Girls' and Boys' Forums), who first discussed corporal punishment and learned about comics and then spread the word to children and adults in their areas. The campaign was organised by World Comics India, Plan India and Gram Niyojan Kendra, which supports the Babu Beheni Manch.
