Megjashi, the First Children's Embassy in the World, campaigns for children's rights in Macedonia, especially their right to freedom from violence.
In 2009, researchers, including children, talked to 2234 students in schools in Macedonia about children's rights, including corporal punishment at school. They found out that 57% of the children knew a child who had been hit by a teacher, while 14% of the children said that violence happens every day in their schools.
