Global newsletter issue 37 (June 2017) is out now!

The Global Initiative's quarterly global newsletter provides a round-up of news and developments on corporal punishment from around the world. In this latest edition, we report on recent law reform workshops working towards prohibition of all corporal punishment in Myanmar and Viet Nam, and highlight moves towards prohibition and other positive developments from across the globe. We also present new resources to support advocacy from the Global Initiative and others - including new regional briefings tracking progress towards prohibition in Africa (marking the Day of the African Child, 16 June), ASEAN member states and SAIEVAC member states - and provide updates from the UN and regional human rights systems, including new recommendations on corporal punishment made to states by four UN treaty bodies, the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, and under the Universal Periodic Review.
