This briefing is part of a series of seven technical briefings on how to achieve legal reform to prohibit all corporal punishment of children, including in the home. The briefings summarise the steps needed to campaign successfully for governments to meet their obligations under the Convention on the Rights of the Child to ensure children have the same protection from assault that adults have. Drawing on experiences of working with child rights advocates in global and regional workshops on law reform in 2008 and 2009, the briefings are intended to provide a reference point for planning and carrying out successful national campaigns.
This briefing descibes how to build a national strategy to achieve law reform to prohibit all corporal punishment and other cruel and degrading punishment of children in all settings, including the home.
