The Global Initiative is delighted to present a new short guide to achieving effective law reform on corporal punishment of children – now available in French.
The guide aims to support governments and civil society working to end violence against children through effective prohibition of corporal punishment. It sets out the key stages of law reform, provides an overview of the work involved with essential hints and tips, and directs readers to more detailed information for each area of work.
Prohibition of corporal punishment is fundamental to child protection. Evidence from states that have achieved prohibition shows that legal protection supports change in attitudes and behaviour, providing clarity to children, parents, teachers, social services and law enforcement that no violence against a child is acceptable.
This guide is available for download now in English and French, and will shortly be available in Arabic.
