At its 19^th session in February-March 2018, the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities issued recommendations on corporal punishment to the most of the states reviewed. The Committee also adopted General Comment No. 6 on “Equality and non-discrimination” which reiterated states’ obligation to prohibit corporal punishment in all settings.

• To Haiti, the Committee expressed concern that children with disabilities were subjected to corporal punishment and recommended its explicit prohibition in all settings.
• In its concluding observations on Oman’s initial report, the Committee twice raised the issue of corporal punishment and recommended the amendment of the Child Act of 2014 to explicitly prohibit corporal punishment of children in all settings.
• The Committee recommended to Seychelles the expedition of the review of the Children Act to include a ban on corporal punishment in all settings.
• To Sudan, the Committee expressed concern at the lack of measures taken to criminalise all forms of violence including corporal punishment and recommended prohibition in all settings, including by amending the Children’s Act of 2010 and the Criminal Code.

Finally, the Committee recommended prohibition to Slovenia, despite the enactment of prohibiting legislation in 2016.
